Once you book your surgical date, you will be required to have a pre-operative check. This will take place over the phone or at our Northampton clinic with one of our clinical nurses. They will carry out an assessment of your current health and medical history to ensure that you are fit for .

You will be required to travel to London for your breast surgery procedure. Breast enlargement is performed under general anaesthetic at our privately owned theatre located in London Fitzroy. Our state-of-the-art theatre is owned by The Private Clinic which means we can ensure that you receive consistent high-quality care throughout your journey with us.

Breast surgery involves inserting into the breast tissue to increase the size or shape of the breast.

is carried out at our privately owned London Fitzroy Hospital. This ensures that you receive first-class care your breast enlargement journey.

The procedure is performed under general anaesthetic and usually takes 1-2 hours to perform. The surgeon will make an incision within the natural fold of the breast before creating a pocket within the breast where the implant will eventually be placed. Depending on what was agreed on during consultation, this pocket will be located either the breast tissue and chest muscle (over/sub-glandular placement) or behind the chest wall and muscle (under).

Our expert breast surgeons use the Keller Funnel to insert the implant into the pocket. This device not only reduces the required incision size to be 3-5cm but it also means that the implant can be placed safely into the breast without it being touched which reduces the risk of contamination. Once the implant is in place, the incisions will be closed with absorbable stitches, dressing applied to the area and then a post-surgical bra will be put onto the .

You will then be taken back to your room to recover from the general anaesthetic where you will be monitored by the hospital nursing team. Refreshments will be supplied and once your surgeon is happy with your recovery you will be discharged to travel home with your chaperone by car, which is usually 2-3 hours after the procedure.

Following your breast enlargement surgery, all of your aftercare appointments will be made at our Northampton clinic including your 1 week and 6 week appointments.

We will also continue to be there for you in the years following your surgery should you have any concerns or questions about your breast implants or surgery.

There is not one type of breast implant that will guarantee a natural result. Breast implants come in a range of shapes, sizes and profiles and these will look different on every patient.

There is also the placement of the implant that needs to be carefully planned, usually for patients wanting a more look the implant will be placed below the muscle. This allows for more of the natural breast tissue to sit on top of the . In some cases however, your surgeon may advise that it would be more appropriate to go for an over the muscle option as that is what will suit your body the best.

We recommend that patients take a week off work to recover but some patients may choose to take two weeks. The length of time required will depend on your healing rate and the nature of your occupation. Those with a desk job or are able to work from home may find returning to work easier than those who have to travel or spend all day on their feet.

Exercise and other strenuous activities should be avoided for 4-6 weeks and your surgeon will be able to advise you on this.

The week following your procedure you should be resting and taking it easy but do not spend all your time stationary. It is recommended that you keep active and make sure to take regular gentle short walks. You should for someone to help you around the house and to help with childcare if necessary.

After 6 weeks, you should be pretty much back to your everyday activities and your surgeon will be able to advise you on anything that you are unsure of or have questions about.

Breast should not impact your ability to breastfeed as breast tissue is not affected during the surgical procedure. If you have a combined procedure such as an uplift or nipple correction, then this does carry a risk of the milk ducts becoming damaged or breast tissue being . This will all be discussed during your consultation with our expert surgeons.
